Clinical studies of 12 cases of Crohn´s disease

Abstract
|
|
|
We had experiencd 12 cases of Crohn´s disease for past 8 years from 1965 to 1972 in Severance Hospital.
Among 12 cases in this study, both sexes were equally affected. Six were male and six were female. Average age was 42. The youngest age was 8 and the oldest was 68. In their past history, five had appendectomy and one had exploratory laparotomy with the impression of intestinal obstruction. Their surgical indications. were as follow. In 6 cases exploration was done with, the impression of the tumor. In 2 cases external fistula and in another 2 cases perforations were surgical indication. In- one case intestinal obstruction was and one was impressed as acute appendicitis.
Wide resection :was performed in 11 cases and appendectomy wa3 done in one case. No recurrence was noticed after operation and in 3 cases main wound infection was noticed.
The involved site was in the ileum in 3 cases, in the colon in 4 cases, in the ileocecum in 4 cases and in the jejunum in one case.
